RouterOS License Buying Guide
Here’s exactly what happens between clicking Buy and having a working RouterOS license — so there are no surprises partway through.
The Purchase Journey
1. Choose your license level
Use the License Comparison page to match your router and use case to Level 4, 5, or 6.
2. Find your Software ID
Every RouterOS device has a unique Software ID in the format XXXX-XXXX, found in Winbox or WebFig under System > License. Have it ready before you start — see the Software ID Guide if you can’t locate it.
3. Add the license to your cart
Open the product page for your chosen license level and click Add to Cart.
4. Enter your Software ID
Clicking Buy opens a popup asking for your Software ID. Double- and triple-check it — RouterOS licenses are bound permanently to the device they’re issued for and cannot be reassigned once a key is generated.
5. Continue to cart
Once your Software ID is confirmed, the license is added and you’re taken to your cart to review your order.
6. Checkout
Enter your billing details at checkout. Your Software ID travels with the order automatically — you won’t need to re-enter it.
7. Complete payment
Pay securely online. You’ll receive an order confirmation immediately, and a GST invoice by email.
8. Receive your activation key
Before any key is generated, our team manually checks your Software ID against MikroTik’s licensing records — usually completed within a few working hours. Your RouterOS license key then arrives by email, along with a link to the Installation Guide.
What If Something Goes Wrong?
If you entered the wrong Software ID, contact us immediately, before a key has been issued. Once a key is generated against a Software ID, MikroTik does not permit reassignment to different hardware. See our Payment Policy, Pricing Policy, and Refund & Returns Policy for order and refund terms.
